The Distillers
My grandpa and I go to our mansion which is Karbi village beside Town Ashtarak. It is 20 minutes away from the capital city of Armenia Erevan. I go to open the gates, and my grandpa will drive the car in. We go to our big mansion put our stuff in the house. We open the garage which has all of our instruments for work. Also we open a small room beside our house in which we make bread that s called lavash.
Go check the garden which is really big to see what we have to deal with. When we are done we go back to the house, turn on the power, make some tea, talk to each other, and change to our working clothes and go to work. First we go pick up the apricot that fell on the ground and put them in a bucket. After we are done collecting all of them we go in front of our mansion and take out the kernel out of the apricot and throw it into another bucket.
When we finish we put the kernel off to dry. In the meantime we put the apricot in a big barrel and close it. We put it in a spot where the wind or the rain doesn’t do anything to it. When we do that we take the kernel and put it in the freezer so we can eat it the part inside of the kernel and put it in the freezer so we can eat it in the winter. We come back every day and mix it until the hard part goes down and the juice goes up. It takes about 1 to 2 weeks to finish the process.
After the water gets to the top we have to get something metal to hold the apricot substance and connect it to a tube which has space in the sides of the tube so there can be cold water running in the sides. We take wood and put it under the metal barrel. Before we light up the wood we closed any pockets that air could come out. After we reassure that there are no holes we light up the wood using matches. We wait about 30 to 40 minutes and then we turn on the water so the cold water can decrease the thermal energy of the gas and make it into water or vodka drops.
When we turn on the water we put a glass jar under the place where the vodka will come out. We also don’t want the fire to stop until we are done so we keep putting wood so it could stay hot. The vapor from the apricot goes through the tube the cold water around it turns it in to water or vodka. After we are done we put everything away wash our feet, change and eat. When we finish my grandpa closes everything we get into the car drive out and then close the gates and make our way home. When we are home we have a tea and talk about it and how to do it better next time.
My grandpa is and always will be the best.
